Welcome to the Green Lanes Access Group web site, formed as part of an initiative to help and educate people who are looking to use the green lanes of England and Wales for motorised recreational access. Whether you are an experienced laner or a complete novice we hope you will find this site (and the GLAG Forum Here) both informative and a major resource for all your laning activities. For the novice we offer the chance to make contact with experienced laners who are willing to take you out and show you around your local area. For the more experienced there is the chance to become a “trusted member” where you will have access to Memory Map overlays from around the country. Run by laners for laners registration is completely free, so join up and get involved.
The Green Lane Access Group has been set up specifically to deal with the green lane issues of today. Two wheels or four this site is designed with you in mind. Since the NERC bill was introduced in 2006 many of the lanes that were open to us are now closed. Slowly but surely the National Parks are closing some of the nicest lanes we have left. The powerful Ramblers Association lobby will not stop until all lanes are closed (what ever happened to live and let live). We need to stand united with one voice, one forum, and one place to discuss our hobby and what we can do to stop the rot. |
